Okay, I know it was straight to video and all, but gorram did Return to House on Haunted Hill SUCK!!!
Gods, they fucked up the story.. Baphomet Idol WTF? Goddamn it. The synopsis on the box indicated they expanded everything with Dr. Vannacut, which, hell yeah -- the first movie's "Flashback" scenes of the 1930's asylum in sepiatone were one of the reasons I -love- the first one. The associated visuals of the vintage medical equipment, vintage medical art, etc.. I was hoping this would be more of the same, but instead it was just typical straight to video crap that they just tied in the original character into.
Thank god this was just a rental. The first was scary because it did a good job of building up the dread; this was just a gory slop-fest.
Shame, too, cos I love Jeffrey Combs.. and he was totally wasted. Now I gotta watch something good to make up for it.. thinking I might put in the Frighteners for GOOD Jeffrey Combs.. (I still wanna see Re-Animator, but the video store didn't have it.. suck.)
