Steampunk.. Guitar? Thing?

Okay, ironically, this has -not- shown up on any of my LJ Steampunk communities (yet!) that I know of.. it's just something really cool [livejournal.com profile] shelleybear found. But yet.. So incredibly steamy and awesome! (And considering at one point steam comes out of it.. well.. oh yeah.)

Plus, it's an all time favorite song -- Ghost Riders (in the sky). Just watch. Trust me.

And you haven't posted this to [livejournal.com profile] gears_and_steam why? ;)

Totally awesome! (That song is also a favorite of mine.)

Umm.. 'cos I'm shy about actually -posting- in communities? :)

Yes, I know..

Hee. Well, it's my community and I hope you'll feel comfortable there. I do know what you mean though.

I would be interested in reading more about the guitar, but not enough to dig through his christy website to find it.

Unfortunately, he mostly plays regular guitars, so there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on this particular creation. Bout the most I can get out of observation and web is that it's a T-bird muffler, the rest of it looks like standard electric guitar hardware mounted to the muffler as a soundboard, and the hose coming off the front of it is probably attached to a simple fog machine -- technically, with an electric guitar to cannibalize, I could probably do the same thing.

Either way though, it looks completely nifty!

What in Hades is that man playing??

The instrument looks to be a highly modified electric guitar -- they call it a "Muffler Guitar." As to the music, it's "Ghost Riders (in the sky)." Apparently he primarily plays guitar gospel. But still this is really nifty. :)

I love that song but I have SO never seen a guitar like that. (And I've seen some funky instruments in my day...)
