Okay, so I've had no calls from maintenance. My internet still doesn't work. However, I can tell that maintenance came out and ripped all the plastic strips they had covering the coax along the walls. So I know they came out -- what they did besides a visual check "Yup, the lines are still there!" I have no way of knowing.

All I know is that it -still- doesn't work and they most employ the most dipshit maintenance people ever. Frankly, they shouldn't be offering "Broadband" here -- obviously their coax network can't handle it, wasn't designed for it, and they've got NO FUCKING CLUE HOW TO MAINTAIN OR UPGRADE IT. Fuck, Just the fact that I can see the front half of the building has 2 splitters screwed to the wall that the signal strength must be almost nothing.

I'm at my wits' end -- I don't know whether to sic my lawyer on them or start apartment hunting again. I don't think I can move out during the winter, and I know that internet is something that shouldn't be a reason for a person to move, but this whole thing has left me with a bad taste of "What if it wasn't internet? What if it was electricity or heat or water?"

If I can't trust them to fix something like this, how can I trust them to fix anything at all?

It's a shame, because my apartment's so damn cute too.. but cute does not make up for WORKING.

GRR. MFF tomorrow though! YAY!

Right now I know other neighbors in the building have working service because I'm borrowing their wifi when I have access at all. They also have the slow network speeds, and I'm fairly certain now that I look at everything that the problem is the fact that they only have one or two main "feed" lines and have split everyone's lines multiple times with splitters, which seriously degrades signal quality and strength. My feeling is that one of the splitters in the system decided to give up the ghost and that's why I have the problme whereit worked and then stopped.
