FA stands for Fur Affinity (www.furaffinity.net) which is similar to Deviant Art except that it's focused on Furry Art. They had a major SNAFU at the beginning of July that took out a vast majority of server hardware that has taken them until now to recover from. They raised something like $16k in donations to purchase new server machines. There's another site similar in nature and scope called Furry Artpile (abbreviated as FAP) as well. Basically, they're the furry versions of DA.
