New outfit, new haircut, OOTI (Interview)
Jan. 31st, 2010 01:27 amOkay, so yesterday at work I applied for a new internal position. This would be a step up, in a technical direction. I'm pretty much the perfect candiate, and as far as I can tell, possibly the only applicant. It came up pretty quick and sudden, so time was of the essence getting prepared. I had to redo my resume today, as well as get my hair trimmed and find a new interview outfit.
ETA: (I haven't actually been ASKED to interview yet, as I just applied Friday, but I'm confident I will be, as I'm extremely qualified for the position, so I want to be prepared in advance.)
Seeing as this will be / would be my first ever interview en femme, this is a part of my wardrobe I was lacking - the more business / dressy type of outfit. So, since the Fashion Bug next to the Great Clips was having a "20% Sale on top of our 50% Clearance," I managed to score a cute black gypsy skirt, a pair of gorgeous black pinstriped slacks, and a sort of faux-shirt thing that looks like a white dress shirt with a grey houndstooth vest over it - but really, it's just a shirt made to look that way. (ETA: Total cost was about $37.00 for the 3 items - a little splurge-y for me, but still very affordable in the grand scheme of things, I suppose, and worth the investment, if it results in me getting a better position with more pay.)
With a fresh haircut, makeup, and my dressy black pumps, I feel ready to go tackle this interview. I took 4 pictures today, but out of those pics, only a couple turned out as anything close to decent, IMHO. I've already received two comments that the white bit at the bottom of the shirt should be tucked in, but I'm not sure I have enough length to do so. I bought another pair of pinstriped dress slacks today at Goodwill, so I may try those with the outfit and see if I can tuck the top in. That's the only complaint I've had so far though. I had to go up a size on the top for shoulders and to have a little extra around my belly, which means it's a little poochy in the bust area, but I can deal with that.
Outfit is:
Fashion Bug top, size 26
Fashion Bug slacks, size 26
Dressy-ish Blazer, size 24, Thrifted
Basic Black Pumps, size 10 I think?
Here's what I think is the best picture I took of the 4:

ETA: 2nd best shot (albeit with focus fuzzy) - Sans Blazer
