Up and down..
Nov. 9th, 2007 08:22 pmHad some really good days there for the week.. lots of good stuff going on.. getting ready for MFF.. got 2 good outfits (mostly) together for MFF.. tried 'em both on, had a true moment of looking in the mirror and BEING Sabrina, well and truly for once..
and then the past couple of days.
My ipod died.. well, the firewire connector seems to have detached from the PCB.
And I went out to my van tonight after work and it wouldn't start.
And boy did the mood swing hit. The ipod I can't really do anything about. I can't really afford another (to be fair, I only was able to get the first one 'cos I found a -really- good deal at unclaimedbaggage.com for the first, but it was a 1gen obsolete model when I bought it at $35 anyways.. and I got a good year or two out of it.. but now, even the -broken- ones on Ebay go for $35 or more. But yet, I can find non-Apple branded players for less.. I recently could've picked up a 2Gb Sansa player on Woot for $29.95 -- I debated it, but decided not to go for it. I kick myself in the ass now. ComputerGeeks.com has an RCA 4gb HD player for $40 or so.. I'm tempted there too. Just because I think it's asinine that 2 devices that esssentially do the same exact thing (with comparable capacities) can be so disparately priced. $40 for an RCA player vs. $150 for an Apple? WTF?
I also want something that's USB, not Firewire. Yes, I know USB is slower than Firewire, but firewire's a PAIN IN THE ASS.
As for the van, I'm sure it's probably something stupid. In fact, I'm fairly certain it's gotta be a plugged fuel filter. I JUST filled up at a gas station yesterday. Filled up while the Tanker Truck was there filling the gas station tanks. Which is a No-No. You're never supposed to fill up while the tanker's filling the pumps; it stirs up all the sediment and you suck it up. So, by Occam's razor, the fact that the van now suddenly just turns over without firing indicates either lack of spark or lack of fuel. I'm gonna believe in lack of fuel, likely to plugged filter because of the gas station fillup yesterday.
Still.. I'm tired of vehicle problems. I'm tired of trying to be responsible and having old crap stuff that I have to hack and make work. I want something new, damnit. I want something I don't have to constantly fix.
I'm gonna go look at used van ads now, and daydream about a new vehicle that I can't really afford. And nurse the rum & rootbeer I've made for myself.
Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
