Mar. 15th, 2006 08:18 pmSo I've been wanting to update for a while now and haven't been able to get around to it.. but yeah, what's been up with me?
Well, I was able to get my neon fixed, so I have my little econo-meep-meep car back, and of course, I love it.
I went Geocaching for the first time, and while it was cold and Rachel and I traipsed through a slightly muddy field, I loved it and plan on doing more when it warms up a bit. Rachel wasn't as thrilled, but she explained it as not liking the cold, not liking the branches, and not liking following me.. ("I wanna hold the GPS!") All of these things are fixable, and other than that, Rachel enjoyed it.
I got a new cell phone -- same number, but now I have I RAZR. Verizon gave it to me for free. It's nifty.
Also, I finally made the switch; I've given up cable internet. We switched to DSL from Verizon. I also have a land line phone now. The DSL is cheaper, and ironically, the actual measured speed of the DSL is faster than the actual measured speed of my Cable internet, despite my cable's theoretical faster maximum speed.
Also, while those on the bordertown mailing list know, (and I may have posted about it here before) I am now a published author. Granted, it's not like having a book to my name, but I have had a technical article printed in the current issue of the hacking quarterly "Blacklisted! 411." My article's on page 50. It should be pretty obvious since it's got my byline of "TechWolf" on it. ;)
Job news: Chrysler finally got around to giving me one of the last hands-on tests, and I passed. Now I just need to pass a drug test (easy) and an interview. They are supposed to call me whenever. So yeah. This bodes well for me getting hired at Chrysler. I'm hoping to get the part-time position, as it would be permanent, I'd be first in line to go full-time, I'd be making around $20/hr to start, and I could work another part-time job/ebay/etc. during my off time.
As you may have seen in Rachel's LJ, she has an interview tomorrow for a technical writing position that's much closer to home. She's excited because it's writing and close to home, as well as if she were to get it, it would alleviate the fears we have associated with her current company having been sold. I'm also excited because having Rachel closer to home would be easier on both of us, her car, her gas, and our car insurance.
So that's been what I've been up to recently..
