Happy Blow Shit Up Day!

Somehow it seems that I spend more posts on LJ reporting bad news about my vehicles than anything else I do.
Sometime last night between coming home from fireworks at 11pm-ish and this morning when Rach and I woke up from a fitful night of sleep, someone broke into mine and Rachel's cars. They apparently were going for only one thing -- nothing was taken from Rachel's car, my Pioneer in-dash cd player was stolen from mine. I lucked out; our cars were unlocked, my checkbooks were in the front seat, they opened my glovebox but left rachel's pad of checks and her mp3 player(??!?) and -only- stole my cd player.
Happy Fucking 4th of July. Why do these things keep happening on holidays? Is that like prime thievery time?
I called this police this morning to make a report -- they were supposed to have someone call me back to take it -- by the time they called at 3:30pm, I was at work in the boonies in the big metal box that doesn't allow cell phone usage, and my battery was dead. Yay Rockford Police!
On the flipside, and the one positive to this, is I have the bestest wife in the world who went out and bought me a new in-dash CD/Mp3 player to surprise me with when I came home, to cheer me up. Words cannot describe how much I love my wife and how much it means to me when she does things like this.
On a side note, Work was long and very tiring and shitty. Other people's incompetence is making my job rather difficult and it's pissing me off. I'm getting tired of getting home at 9pm.
