The Car Chronicles.
Feb. 3rd, 2004 10:12 pmY'know, it seems like everytime I start to use Livejournal again.. blah. Over the years, my livejournal has contained all (too many) stories of the different and unplausible (yet true) things that have happened to my vehicles.
All the way back to my original 1989 gold van's first crash in August a few years back, (8-18-01)
to the next crash Halloween night a month later.. (10-31-01)
To it being vandalized..
To the transmission finally dying and my getting a replacement red 1989 plymouth van.
To the 1989 Plymouth van getting stolen out of my driveway. (6-10-03)
To me getting my nice new 1994 Chrysler Concorde because, well.. damnit, I thought the vans were jinxed or bad luck or something. (9-21-03)
As
sanjikrhys put it.. "Stop having accidents on Wiccan Holidays!"
Tonight, on my way home from work, at 5:43, a mexican man who spoke little or no english, with no license or insurance decided to turn his 1991 Ford escort left in front of me as I was proceeding through an intersection. Fortunately, I have witnesses who saw (and verified) my story, so I get no tickets. He, on the other hand, will be getting tickets for lack of insurance, license, failure to yield on left turn.. if/when they find him. He'll also be getting a charge for leaving the scene. Considering that he walked away claiming to need to phone his brother, and well.. never came back. The cop said the car would be impounded.
Fortunately.. Say what you want about Chrysler products, but once again.. steel wins. '94 Chrysler Concorde with a V6 vs. a '91 Ford Escort. Do the math.
However, I lost my front license plate. I'm pretty sure I embedded it into his car. I wasn't even going that fast. My airbags didn't pop. (thank the Gods.. too expensive to replace) I didn't get it too badly, and I can still drive the car. He, on the other hand, won't be. But considering he fled the scene.. well, yeah.
The important stuff: I'm okay. I have a bit of a headache, but not much. I was wearing my seatbelt and no cuts, bruises, etc. I walked away. He obviously walked away, so he doesn't appear to be injured either.
Gods, I am SO FUCKING TIRED of having to go through this.
