Pebbles
1987-2002
She had been with us since she was 8 weeks old.
She was the last pup to be caught of the litter, as she was always the wild one, running away and escaping, but always coming back or letting us catch her. We were as good to her as we could be, but others weren't. Despite epilepsy, going deaf, nearly blind, and barely being able to walk at the end, we still loved her. She was family. She was always there when I came home, and when I was upset and needed to cry or someone to lick my face, she was there.
She gave us 15 very good years.
She used to bark at all my friends until she got to know them. She was fiercely protective of her family, even for such a small dog. Out of all the pets we've had, she was with us the longest, and she will always be remembered first in my mind as our "family" pet.
I miss you, Pebbles.
